Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to lead and manage our financial operations. This position is a key role within our firm, reporting directly to the Vice President and managing one accounting clerk. The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic insights to support the firm's growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the Shareholders.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Principals and project managers to track project budgets, monitor expenses, and forecast financial outcomes.
  • Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to support the firm’s financial stability and growth.
  • Coordinate and prepare for annual tax return preparation with external CPA firm.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to the accounting clerk to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Provide strategic financial insights, benchmarks, and recommendations to leadership to inform decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and mentor staff.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Deltek) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members across all levels.
