Job Description


We are looking to hire an experienced full charge bookkeeper to handle our company's accounts.  In this role you wil be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting duties for our commercial/industrial real estate investment company located in Westminster, Maryland.  Prior experience in this field will be very helpful to the successful candidate.  To ensure success as a full charge bookkeeper, you should have advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting systems, understanding of GAAP, excellent project management skills, and a good eye for detail.  A skilled full charge bookkeeper efficiently handles all the accounting needs of the company, reporting directly to the CEO, and facilitating with staff the smooth operations of the company.  THIS IS AN IN-OFFICE FULL TIME POSITION.

FULL CHARGE BOOKKEEPER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full cycle of accounting activities for the company and related entities, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Preparation of monthly invoices to tenants and maintenaing customer and vendor records.
  • Multiple bank reconciliations for depository and checking accounts.
  • General ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll (as received from payroll preparer) and prepare/file quarterly business and payroll taxes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual tax basis financial statements.
  • Prepare annual 1099's and W-9's as needed.
  • Perform accounting requirements of company's construction projects.
  • Prepare quarterly income/expense projections and distributions to partners.
  • Ability to pull together all accounting components for tax return preparation by outside accounting firm.

FULL CHARGE BOOKKEEPER REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Associate's or Bachelor's deree in accounting (or equivalent prior experience in Manager's judgment).
  • Expeerience with commercial real estate properties (i.e., rental properties, tenant matters, CAM reconciliations, pass-through charges).
  • Proficient in accounting software (10 years minimum experience).
  • Knowledge of tax basis and cash basis method of accounting.
  • 10 years Full Charge Bookkeeper experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, team player office environment and abiility to interface well with staff.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prepare tax schedules for preparation of tax returns by outside public accounting firm.
  • Knowlege of multi-state taxation for flow-through entities.
  • Partnership and flow-through taxation and preparation of Schedule K-1's.
