Job Description
Your Dream Work-From-Home Accounting Gig in Ohio Awaits! You will be serving Ohio clients and working from your home office, with the support of an amazing team.
Imagine: a productive workday in your own comfortable space, serving fantastic Ohio clients, all while enjoying the freedom of remote work. We're looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Remote Staff Accountant to join our supportive team. If you're seeking a flexible role with opportunities for growth and collaboration and you have public accounting experience, this could be the perfect fit.
What You Will Do:
We're looking for a Staff Accountant to keep the financial wheels turning for some of our awesome clients. This means handling the daily and monthly accounting tasks, chatting with clients (because communication is key!), processing payroll (we use a fancy third-party system, so no ancient spreadsheets!), and teaming up with the Senior Accountant and Controller on reporting. Basically, you'll be a financial superhero for your client base. And, like everyone on our team, you'll be modeling our company values and vision while you're at it.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
- Transaction Processing: Record bank and credit card transactions weekly, meticulously resolving any discrepancies that arise to maintain accurate financial records.
- Recordkeeping Management: Maintain the timeliness of client recordkeeping, ensuring a maximum lag of two weeks to facilitate accurate and up-to-date financial reporting.
- Ledger Management: Assist clients with adjustments needed to item and project ledgers to ensure accuracy and proper financial reporting.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card statements, verifying accuracy and identifying any discrepancies.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure timely and accurate completion of data entry and address any financial inquiries.
- Sales Tax Compliance: Prepare, review for accuracy, and file monthly sales tax returns, adhering to all regulatory requirements.
- Accounts Payable: Process and pay bills approved for payment by clients, ensuring timely disbursement of funds.
- Payroll Processing: Review, process, and record client payrolls, utilizing established procedures and systems.
- Retirement Benefits Administration: Submit retirement benefits to the 401k provider, ensuring compliance with all timelines and recordkeeping guidelines.
- Journal Entries: Post journal entries to adjust the balance of loans and other client accounts, maintaining accurate financial records.
- Financial Reporting: Perform data entry in company software and generate weekly reports for clients, providing them with accurate and timely financial status updates.
- Compliance: Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Special Projects: Assist with ad-hoc projects, research initiatives, accounting system implementations, and process improvement efforts as required.
What You Will Bring to The Table:
- We're looking for someone who is accurate, has a strong work ethic, and loves to make our clients happy!
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is great, but not a must-have. We value experience just as much!
- You should have a solid grasp of basic bookkeeping principles, which usually comes with about 2-4 years of experience in bookkeeping or public accounting.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Studio Designer, or Xero is a bonus – it would definitely make you stand out!
- You're an Excel whiz, comfortable using advanced formulas to analyze data.
- You're a natural problem-solver, great at juggling multiple projects and deadlines, and you have a keen eye for detail.
