Founded in 1999, building on his family’s 40+ years of multifamily experience, Dwight Dunton III started Bonaventure Realty Group, LLC in the spare bedroom of his rented apartment. He built Bonaventure with a unique concept. It isn’t as much about the properties as it is about the people. If we have great people, and an average property, we could make properties great, but with a great property and average people, you could make things worse. At the time, Dwight had more fingers on his right hand than he did employees. Since then, Bonaventure has grown into a small, dynamic company focused on multifamily.

With over $1.35 billion of transactions, 6,751 units (and growing) and 164 employees, Bonaventure hasn’t lost the family feel while boasting a portfolio of unique apartment homes across 4 states and 28 properties. Bonaventure comes from the Italian word buonaventura which literally means “good luck.” When Dwight learned that his ancestor, Andrew Dunton, sailed to America in 1635 aboard the ship, Bonaventure, he knew he was on to something great. Bonaventure was more than just a ship of good tidings for the Dunton family, but also for the founding of his new real estate company.
